How we verify

Asbestos Abatement Index is compiled from public records, not from who paid to be listed.

Sources

• Florida DBPR asbestos license extract — Board 59 licence extract (lic59asb.csv): asbestos contractor and consultant licences with status and expiry.
• Illinois Department of Public Health: Asbestos Licensed Contractors — Contractors licensed to conduct asbestos abatement in Illinois, with expiry dates.
• Connecticut eLicense: State Licenses and Credentials — Credentials recorded in Connecticut's eLicensing system; we use Asbestos Contractor and Lead Abatement Contractor.
• Delaware Certified Asbestos Vendors — Currently certified asbestos professional services firms and abatement contractors.

We load four official state files and keep records that are active with an expiry date on or after the day we checked: Florida DBPR asbestos contractor and consultant licenses (current, active); the Illinois Department of Public Health asbestos licensed contractors list; Connecticut eLicense records for Asbestos Contractor and Lead Abatement Contractor with status Active; and Delaware's certified asbestos vendors. Expired or other-status records are simply left out; we never label a named business as unlicensed.

Florida licenses individuals as well as businesses, so some Florida listings show a person's name. Where the state file records a business name for an asbestos contractor we use it. Illinois and Delaware lists include out-of-state firms licensed to work there; they appear under the address in the state file. The Illinois lead contractor list was not used because its expiry dates are out of date.

Other states are not covered. Verified means only that the license is active in the state's file on the date shown, not that the work is good. We do not publish violations, complaints or status reasons.

Lists are alphabetical. We do not rate or rank. Featured firms appear in a labelled box and never change the order.

What a badge means

License active: the business or licensee appears in the state's own asbestos license file (Florida DBPR, Illinois IDPH, Connecticut eLicense or Delaware certified vendors) as active, with an expiry date on or after the day we checked. We only publish positive matches. A listing without a badge is not an accusation — most gaps are name variations between registries.

Freshness

Data was last refreshed on 2026-09-30. State files update at different intervals; we re-pull them weekly.
